Drawlloween - Day 15: Amulet

I figured Drawlloween would be a good idea to ease me back into getting used to drawing again.

I've missed out on the first two weeks, but I'll be trying to update the Ghetto Bento Facebook page with daily drawings until the end of the month! Above is day 15's Amulet, in a step-by-step process...

Eternal Helcaraxe

Quick caricature busted out of Cavan-based black-metal band Eternal Helcaraxe.
Got my hands on Against All Odds (churrz Mark) a few days ago and been giving it a spin since!

Boycotting McDonalds and A for Ants

I refuse to eat McDonalds... so I made use of their stationary instead :D Sitting with friends/victims. My life drawing needs a lot more work. Crayons do not help. At all.

One of my missions for this summer was to create an alphabet book just for fun, but it doesn't look like it's going to be completed anytime soon. So far I only have A and C complete... and here's A!

AIH1

Hanging around college after-hours and with only 3 formal classes left, it dawned on me that there were no form of keepsakes for anyone in AIH1... so I threw this class caricature of everyone from the course together over a few hours. Here's hoping they liked it and aren't plotting revenge!

Butchering Nara (envelopes)

College work tea break in the form of ripping off Yoshitomo Nara. Decided to put the pack of crayons that were gathering dust to some use and practice other styles!

Starting to fall in love with drawing on envelopes and using crayons! This is going to make growing up even harder! What's even more fun is that they only take around 5 - 15 minutes to do. Perfect for an ADD-er/Facebook addict...
The left and middle envelopes were just for fun, while the one on the right was drawn for a coursemate who loves trolls :D Only AIHers will understand the mushroom reference :'D
Oh yeah, and I WANT AN ORIGINAL WAAAAHHHH

Ran dumbs

Design copied freehand from some tattoo magazine (2007? 08? ?) and coloured in on openCanvas. Practice!

Art, Craft & Design at Cavan Institute: Make a teapot that will easily hold one cup of tea. Behold; SeaPot. Hyuk! SeaPot is still alive today but is passing the time with the top of his head missing because a course-mate at the time stole and hid the lid somewhere. He does make quite a snapping flower vase, though.

hide small practice draft/sketch before it was painted onto an A1 canvas. Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, the A1 version is an eye-sore, so it's not going here.

Buddhas eyes

Just something I quickly threw together yesterday (based on Buddhas eyes) using some old scrap black paper and emulsion paint tester tubes. (around 2x4ft)

07 - 10 Recap

My wardrobes went through the mother of all winter-clean-ups during the week and I dug these out this morning. I thought these guys were trashed a few months back, so it was a bit of a surprise. They were all initially drawn in pencil then traced over in a regular black ballpoint Bic pen (the ignoramus' tool of the trade, many, many light-years before UniPins were discovered) and some of them go back to 07... never thought I'd see the originals again! These scans were in no way edited whatsoever (I wont lie... they were cropped, shh)

Felecia from Darkstalkers. My version looks absolutely stupid compared to the reference...

Huhu's original (click here for complete)

Don't you even dare laugh. Text removed in the edit (here) for obvious reasons.

The baby version of my, er, baby (click here)... I think this was the very first proper sketch. Didn't think I'd ever see this again!

Obviously got sidetracked...!

Butchering

What better to practice drawing than with turning your poor defenseless friend into a cartoon character? I think this was from 07/08 when I was trying to bulk up the portfolio a little (the "Huuuh!" is an inside joke, that, no, I don't understand either).
The cartoon on the t-shirt isn't random, it's a doodle by Nara, also on the Fantomas Suspended Animation album.

As well as interesting commissions, I hope to someday visit the planet Mike Patton came from.

Cynical

Cynic are one of my most favoured bands in the entire universe and I've been a fan for a few years, so one of them taking recognition and actually liking the drawing (let alone posting it on their Facebook.. whaaaaaat) is a pretty damn surreal. Oh teh goosebumps!
Alas, because I am so jinxed: people using the drawing without permission, finding it on profiles/forums, others claiming it as their own... although for the time being I'm just happy people like it!

Super cool and friendly guys, check them out at Wacken Festival 2008:
